Activities are the work the Team needs to carry out. In Backlog → Current, create a new Activity with Create Activity. To start from a template, use Clone Activity, choose the Template and confirm; remember to adjust the name to show what the Activity refers to.
Besides the name (Activity) and Description, an Activity has Tags, Estimate, Added Value, Type and Due Date, and the Attachments and Tasks tabs. The Type can be:
- Regular — something for the Team to work on.
- Problem — fixing something done earlier.
- Epic — an Activity not yet detailed enough.
- Technical — something the Team must do that the client does not directly perceive as value, such as an adjustment to its own process.
Tick Accept to accept the Activity when you create it. Otherwise it stays in Proposed, awaiting review and acceptance.
Estimate
The most common estimate is points assigned by the Team to indicate the Activity’s level of difficulty. The usual scale is a modified Fibonacci sequence, but any scale can be used, including working hours. The estimate is also the basis for the Team’s velocity, which helps build Sprints with a suitable amount of work.
Important: an unestimated Activity added to a Sprint gets the default points set in Unestimated Activities, in the Team’s Settings.
Added Value
In BeePlus, Added Value is a number with no predefined scale that helps the Team, especially the Coordinator, indicate how much an Activity contributes to the goal of the work or to client satisfaction. It is optional. A possible scale, to support the Coordinator when prioritizing:
- 0 — no added value;
- 100 — low added value;
- 500 — medium added value;
- 1000 — high added value.
Tasks
An Activity can be split into several tasks; by completing the tasks, the Team completes the Activity. Tasks can be created in the Tasks tab or, later, on the Team Board.
